Natural Radiance Unveiled: An Exclusive Interview with Phaedra Botanicals' Inaugural Ambassador

Phaedra Botanicals has recently launched an inaugural Ambassador Program. After receiving numerous applications, our team meticulously handpicked a select few to participate in an exclusive 3-month trial. From this talented group, we aimed to find the perfect fit to become our first brand ambassador.

The selectees were entrusted with crafting captivating content, with some of their outstanding creations having already been shared on our social media platforms, providing valuable insights into our products.

We are thrilled to extend a warm and official welcome to our inaugural ambassador, Barbara Bosque from Brazil, based in Porto, Portugal. Her creativity and dedication have already begun positively impacting our brand, and we are excited to have her as our first ambassador.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Barbara to allow you to get to know her better.

PB: The decision to move from Brazil to Europe sounds like an exhilarating adventure! I can imagine it must have been a transformative experience for you. How exactly has this move influenced your personal growth and shaped your perspective on life and artistry?

BB: Moving to Europe has had a profound impact on both my personal growth and artistic journey. Firstly, exposure to different cultures and environments has significantly broadened my horizons. Living in new places and interacting with diverse communities has made me more open-minded and receptive to various sources of inspiration and beauty.

PB: Discovering new cultures and experiencing different environments can be transformative. Have any specific moments or encounters during your journey inspired or influenced your creative approach as a makeup artist?

BB: I encountered numerous moments and people who inspired my creative approach as an artist. Each encounter offered a unique perspective on beauty, and I learned to incorporate elements from various cultures into my work.

Embracing the natural and dewy look has been a beautiful outcome of this journey, reflecting the radiant and lively spirit I experienced in Brazil and Portugal. Every client or model I work with is a discovery, a fresh canvas to explore.

PB: We often find that our personal experiences shape our artistic expression. Are there any unique aspects of your Brazilian heritage or European experiences that you incorporate into your makeup artistry, adding a touch of your own identity to your work?

BB: My Brazilian heritage and European experiences are essential to my makeup artistry. I enjoy blending Brazil’s vibrant colors and exotic flair with the subtle elegance and sophistication I discovered in Europe. This fusion adds a touch of my identity to my work, resulting in truly unique and unforgettable looks. As a Brazilian, I can’t go without a good bronzer!

PB: What are the main differences between everyday life and work in Brazil and Europe?

BB: I have observed some noticeable differences. One significant contrast is the pace of life, which tends to be more relaxed in Europe, with a stronger emphasis on achieving work-life balance. Moreover, European clients often prefer a more natural and effortless makeup look, while Brazilian clients tend to appreciate a bolder and more glamorous style. However, being a Carioca girl*, I naturally lean towards a relaxed and natural way of life, and this has been a valuable apprenticeship for me.

*The term “Carioca” describes people or things related to Rio de Janeiro, the famous coastal city known for its vibrant culture, beautiful beaches, and lively lifestyle. So, a Carioca girl embodies the spirit and characteristics associated with the people of Rio de Janeiro, often reflecting their relaxed and joyful way of life.

PB: Considering the many beauty companies, what specifically attracted you to discover Phaedra Botanicals and apply to our ambassador program?

BB: What led me to discover Phaedra Botanicals and apply to your ambassador program was the brand’s unwavering commitment to natural and dewy beauty, which perfectly aligns with my makeup preferences. The emphasis on clean beauty and sustainable practices also deeply resonated with my values as a makeup artist.

PB: How do you perceive the differences in makeup preferences or techniques between Brazilian and European clients?

BB: I’ve noticed distinct trends regarding makeup preferences and techniques among personal clients from Brazil and Europe. Brazilian clients are more adventurous with colors and often request bolder looks, particularly for special occasions. On the other hand, European clients prefer a softer and more natural look, seeking to enhance their features without going too heavy on makeup.

PB: Moving to a new country can present various challenges and opportunities. Could you share any specific obstacles or experiences you’ve encountered since your move to Europe and how they have influenced your growth as a makeup artist?

BB: Moving to a new country posed challenges, including adjusting to a different pace and cultural norms. However, I’ve come to view these obstacles as valuable opportunities for growth and learning. Embracing these challenges with a positive mindset has enabled me to become more adaptable and resilient as a makeup artist.

PB: What is your favorite makeup look?

BB: My favorite makeup look is undoubtedly the “sun-kissed glow” look. I love creating a radiant and dewy complexion with a subtle bronzed effect. This look exudes a fresh and youthful appearance, boosting confidence and enhancing everyone’s natural beauty.

PB: How would you describe your everyday makeup look, and are there any essential products you cannot live without?

BB: For my everyday makeup look, I like to keep it simple and natural. I begin with a light coverage foundation or BB cream to even out my skin tone and then add a cream blush to my cheeks for a healthy flush. Mascara is a must for me to open up my eyes, and I finish with a tinted lip balm to keep my lips hydrated and add a hint of color. A bit of cream highlighter, and I’m all set! These products are my essentials and always have a place in my makeup bag!
